Reading for Pleasure

Last week, a grade 6 student who ADORES READING shared his book with his peers. He was so enthusiastic while telling the story that everybody was listening and asking questions. He wanted everybody to love the book and to read it. The book is no more on the shelf in the library. It is with one of Georgio's friends. If you want to read it, you have to wait for your turn. He would make a great conference man, speaker, animator and maybe...a wonderful g6 teacher!

A late but nevertheless from the heart welcome to grade 6!

The first project of Grade 6, in the library, was about myths. Research was done for 3 consecutive weeks. Working in groups of 2 or 3, each group chose a different myth, Echo, Phaethon, Narcissus, Atalanta, Pygmalion, Orpheus, Oedipus, Persephone, Niobe, Bellerophon, Io and Europa. They prepared a poster, and presented it to their peers in the library and in class. Flash cards were not allowed. They told about Zeus, Olympus the underworld ....
Some were costumed (dressed the same way as in ancient times, some crayons hanging from hair to suggest long hair, a golden apple to distract Atalanta, a belly to suggest strong muscles, a guitar to accompany the telling of the story, and some fortune cookies to share with their friends)

Reading For Pleasure!

G6 chose books from the library. After reading it during library hour, they decorated a poster representing the book and presented it to the class. They commented about why did they love/hate the book and why do they advice it/ or not to their friends.

WELL DONE G6!
